- I think this is an incredibly noble undertaking. I honestly don't know how Frederick would receive it. It would be interesting to see. I bet it would be a sure thing in Baltimore or DC.

Hi,
I am planning to move back to Frederick in a few months except now my daughter is 13 and fighting this every step of the way. Are there any 'safe' online chat sites where my daughter could chat with other teens in Frederick? She will be in 8th grade next year, and of course the move from California is her worst nightmare! (mine is living here in California!) Anyway, she is shy and terribly affraid she wont know anyone, and Im thinking if maybe she could interact with teens she will meet, and possibly go to school with, it may help her anxiety. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you very much!
Pam

I don't know if you have an religious inclinations, but many local churches offer really great youth programs. She'd be able to meet other teens from all over the county! Church youth groups tend to be very welcoming to new people; much more so than junior high classrooms.
I moved to a little town in Michigan from Japan when I was 12. It took forever to adjust! That is a challenging age no matter what. My best to you and your daughter on this new journey. -
I would recommend finding out which school she'll be going to. if you know this, then you will be able to search Facebook/MySpace for other kids at that school.
I don't know of any specific "monitored" chat space that's specific to teens in Frederick.
